For my video project, I am choosing to tell the story of a typical college kid. I will play this college kid myself, and my goal is to show how expensive college can be, and maybe offer some advice. I plan on doing some of this video vlog style, carrying around a phone, or getting someone to film me. I also plan to use still frames to describe certain things. As I am showing the pictures and videos, my voice will be commentating over the visuals. I want to talk about the overall price of college, and how it breaks down. I might break it down by year, then semester, or maybe even weekly or daily. I would like to show the average student loan debt, and give some tips (I don't have many) to get financial aid, or help reduce costs. I also want to show students what they can expect, and show them hidden fees that I did not think about when I came to college, as they are much more extensive then one might assume. Video Title: Drowning in Debt Theme/Concept: Follow a student for the day, and include photos and videos to show the overwhelming cost of attending college. Genre: Nonfiction Free Write: I want this piece to give an insight of how expensive college is. I would like to show how everything adds up, and maybe show some statistics about how college has grown increasingly expensive, and how student debt is consistently increasing. I will use Rutgers as a vessel to show the price of college. Video Style: Vlog style filming, with pictures to break up the videos. Breakdown of possible scene: I will go to Brower and swipe in, while explaining the cost of a meal plan and residence life in general. Target Audience: Prospective College students, current students.
